Verizon has started rolling out an updated ROM for the DORID Eris by HTC. Don’t get too excited, as this ROM update is only a minor bug fix and does not add any additional functionality to the handset. The ROM update addressed the issue:

Rare instances where the display locked or appeared to be in an out-of-service states when attempting to wake up the DROID ERIS from screen saver mode no longer occurs.

It’s not the most exciting bug fix in the world, but at least Verizon and HTC want to make sure your Android phone work properly while you patiently await your Android 2.1 update.
