While all of us current Droid Incredible owners are waiting in anticipation of Froyo today, new owners can be assured that their DInc will come to their door with Android 2.2 already loaded on their shiny new phone. Interestingly, the phone is listed as a "Google Experience Device" despite having HTC's Sense UI loaded. Also, it looks like HTC and Verizon have resolved supply issues once and for all as the phone no longer has the "ships by" tag it had been sporting since launch.
We know every one of your DInc owners (myself included) simply can't wait any longer. Rather than turn to violence, why not share your pain with other users in the Android Central Forums? [Verizon] Thanks to forums user O.G. Incredible for the tip!

Best Buy has announced that it will be offering pre-orders of the Samsung Fascinate (see our hands on here), starting today (Aug. 27) for Reward Zone members, and kicking in on Sunday (Aug. 29) for the public at large. As for pricing information, which hasn't been announced by Verizon, Best Buy has this to say:
"Pre-orders can be made by visiting any local Best Buy or Best Buy Mobile standalone store. Pricing and launch dates for the Samsung Fascinate, which is a member of the Galaxy Series, will be announced soon."
Soon in this case may really mean soon, as we just saw some evidence that the Fascinate may launch on September 9. And it could be that Best Buy saw that, too, and is just getting its ducks in a row. For all of you guys and gals who have been waiting for the Verizon flavor of the Galaxy S line, it looks like the time is drawing near. [Best Buy]

There's been some talk about the HSPA+ HTC G2 being released in September, and TmoNews has got hold of some screenshots that puts the date as September 29 for the release of the Vanguard. What does the Vanguard have to do with the G2? I'm glad you asked. If you rip open the leaked G2 ROM we saw recently (or grab it already done for you here), you will see references to the Vanguard, such as in the devices name for the static wallpapers (also pulled out for you here).
If things don't change (and they often do), look for the G2, codenamed the Vanguard, running stock Froyo, with an all new chip on the 29th of September. So who's excited for this besides me? [TmoNews]

TeleNav has released its OnMyWay application for Android in the Market. OnMyWay is an easy-to-use application that will let a person or group know your travel status and estimated arrival time. Very popular on the BlackBerry platform, this should prove to be a popular item and a must have for travellers. Buy another bag of ice for the cooler, Phil -- looks like I'm going to be late.
After the break we have the app's description as a mini press release from TeleNav, a video showing it in action, and the download links.

The Froyo (Android 2.2) update for the Evo 4G has been rooted. While the current method is a bit hairy and involves timing and a bit of luck, the directions look very straightforward, and more important, not too dangerous to your precious hardware. The method is a mix of the recent exploit used on the Droid 2 and tools from the UnrEVOked team, and should leave you with a fully rooted and bootloader unlocked Evo, ready for your choice of a custom ROM.
Remember, this sort of thing breaks warranties and has the potential to ruin things, even if this method looks fairly safe. Proceed at your own risk, or wait it out a few days to see if an easier method rolls around -- nobody here will blame you. But you trailblazers, hit the source link to give it a go! Sick of seeing videos of Samsung's Galaxy Tab yet? Neither are we. A new video preview of the Android device that will be introduced on Sept 2 has popped up in Korea. The clip is nearly 3 minutes long and provides some great looks at the 7-inch device. In the video, the user shows off the size versus an iPad, uses Swype with the notepad app, watches video, reads a newspaper article and looks at Google Maps.
It looks like a great device, especially if the price point is significantly lower than Apple's tablet. More questions loom however, such as:
These and other questions will be answered in Berlin on Sept. 2nd (we hope), and we'll be there to bring it all to you. Enjoy the video after the break in the meantime. [Engadget]

The Android vs. iPhone battle continues to rage on in forums, articles and between friends who sport competing devices. The war in the ad space has been continued on as an advertisement in Grenada, Miss., was spotted that shows Android soaring right through the middle of an Apple (subtle isn't it?)
Nevertheless, the ad is amusing and will likely be met by cheers from the Android community and jeers from the iOS folks. [Thanks to @StormTrooper626]

According to files inside the leaked engineering test ROM for the G2 that recently showed itself, the phone is confirmed to be using a MSM7x30 Snapdragon processor, which has the high-octane Adreno 205 GPU on board. That's the same graphics chip that the Glacier was showing off a few weeks back. That really fast one. Yeah.
Speaking of the Glacier, we also got a tip that some upcoming hardware will be running the 7x30 board as well, namely the Glacier itself, the Speedy, the Blitz, the Mecha, and the Spade. But like a Froyo rumor, things like this often change. [@cyanogen via Android and Me] Thanks Adwin!

As always, we have no idea when your Droid Incredible will get Froyo, but someone claims to, and they tell Droid Life that Sept. 1 is the new date, and that we'll see a marketing push ahead of it. (Lest we all forget, somebody recently told Mashable that Aug. 18 was going to be the date, too. And we all know how that worked out.) At this point the only proof I'll accept to say it's "confirmed" will be Verizon saying they already rolled it out and brings me an updated phone on a silver platter. Anyway, to be safe -- get things backed up and ready for next week. And for Pete's sake if you get an update holler from the rooftops, and let us know! [Droid Life]
[Ed. note: Any time we use the words "Verizon," "update" and "date" in the same sentence, our mothers and lawyers remind us that there's a better than average chance that we'll get through the target day without anything actually happening. Just saying.]
Update: Sure enough, and no surprise to anyone, this rumor has been debunked, by the source itself. Again, folks, we'll see it when we see it.
